VISIT PADOVA
Padova is located in the middle of the Venetian countryside, among the lagoon, the hills and the Pre-Alps. It is the main crossway of all the roads that links the North-West Italy; it is today the most recognized European city where the values of the past meet the new technology. Padova with its architectural and artistic treasure of every era like, the rests of the ancient Roman theatre, the St. Anthony Basilica of the XIV century and the Scrovegni Chapel with the marvellous Giotto. All the Squares with the typical colours of the market, the Botanical Garden and the quite of the Euganean Hills meets all the guest needs. Bo Palace
The “Bo Palace” is the main building of the University founded in 1222, second in Italy, after the Bologna University and in any case one of the first in Europe. The Room of the Forty with Galilei’s chair, he taught in Padova from 1593 to 1610.

Pedrocchi Caffè

is a complex building in neo-classic style with a flourish ornate gothic, designed by the architect G. Jappelli in 1831. Famous meeting place for scholars, it was the scene of student uprising in 1848.

St. Anthony Cathedral

started immediately after the death of the Saint, in 1231, it is an imposing construction in Romanesque Gothic style, with eight domes and spires of eastern inspiration. It holds the body of St. Anthony and is the object of pilgrimages from all over the world.

The Botanical Garden

which was founded in 1545, with the name of “Simplex Garden” (medicinal plants) by the Faculty of Medicine, was laid out by the architect A. Moroni. It displays an extremely important collection of rare plants. It houses the old library and botanic collections of the University.
Since 1997, The Botanical Garden was subscribed in the list of the UNESCO world patrimony.

Prato della Valle
once a Roman theatre has become the traditional site for fairs and amusements. Marshy round of the Prato was reclaimed in 1775 by order of the Venetian Procurator Andrea Memmo, who gave the place its present monumental appearance: a large elliptical green island, divided by four avenues corresponding to four bridges surrounded by a canal along which stand 78 statues of famous men.
Facing Prato della Valle is the S. Giustina Basilica.

Palazzo della Ragion
erected in 1218, was the main building for the public law office. Il Salone, on the upper floor, is one vast hall. On the walls is and interesting cycle of frescoes of religious and astrological subject.

Piazza dei Signori
is attractively enclosed by buildings. On the West side, Palazzo del Capitanio, incorporate the Clock Tower with its astronomical clock dating from 1344.

Cappella degli Scrovegni
The ancient Roma Amphitheatre surrounds the Scrovegni Chapel, which holds, entirely preserved, the most complete cycle of frescoes produced by Giotto, one of the greatest monuments of figurative art of all time.
